The RHA's international department receives some unusual requests for information. One such incident happened recently when Heather Wallace, RHA international administrator, was contacted by a member asking: "One of my customers wants to bring a dead cat back to the UK from Alicante. How can they do that?" Realising there could be some issues with health certificates, Heather made enquiries with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and was informed by the Animal Health & Veterinary Laboratories Agency that it was possible to bring the cat home, but it would have to have an Authorisation Certificate and the body would have to be taken directly from the port to an authorised pet cemetery or crematorium.
