Free audits of the state of the tyres on your trucks and trailers can involve little more than somebody giving them a very quick onceover the next time your vehicles are parked in your yard. So says Michelin UK managing director, Chris Smith. If you want an in-depth report from a reputable service provider that delivers useful information you can act on then you are going to have to pay for it, he adds; but the good news is that it will be money well spent. "What you should consider doing is bringing in an expert to carry out an inspection once a month," he says. A specialist tyre technician from a service provider can look at all the tyres and advise on the action that needs to be taken in each case. Some tyres may require turning on the rim for example, while others may need regrooving.
