Gregory installs first LNG station

Gregory Distribution has installed its first bio-LNG (liquified natural gas) refuelling station at its depot in Cullompton, Devon. Gregory's decision to install its own gas facility comes after a successful trial of seven Volvo FH Globetrotter LNG 6x2 tractors delivered in September 2020, the first step in Gregory's strategic plan to replace its 1,000-strong diesel fleet with alternatively-fuelled trucks. The trial ran from the firm's centres in Bristol and Magor, with the trucks taking on long-haul palletised loads to gain the most environmental benefit. Paul Jefferson, group legal, risk and sustainability director at Gregory Distribution said, "There is a growing expectation from our customers to support them in their sustainability strategy and objectives. Running our fleet on these more environmentally-friendly fuels is a key part of this. Right now, for our long-distance trunking work, Bio-LNG is the best option to help reduce our carbon footprint."
