Memorial Bridge lift span removed

The lift span of the Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth, N.H., was taken away by a barge on Feb. 8, marking the end of the nearly 90-year-old structure. Crowds of bystanders looked on as the barge Cape Cod hauled part of the structure away, tying up at the state pier near the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge. Sometime this month, both sides of the span will be floated to a salvage yard in Everett, Mass.
