MoDOT taking down signs on I-270/I-255

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is removing variable speed-limit signs on I-270 and I-255 near St. Louis. The advisory signs were installed in 2008 and modified in 2011 to try to give drivers advance warning of congestion ahead as part of a pilot program. After a five-year study, MoDOT has concluded that the signs did not have the desired effect, KMOX news radio in St. Louis reported.
