Roll up, roll up!

I greatly look forward to welcoming you to Bristol on the evening of 30 June for what promises to be a bumper RIBA Annual Conference. It will surprise no one who has followed my presidency that the theme is to do with 'place'. An impressive line-up of speakers ranges from that great champion of urbanism Terry Farrell and Barcelona masterplanner David Mackay to the inspired American master of landscape, Martha Schwartz. It will be a heady mix of soul food and practice. Rotterdam 2003 and Dublin 2004 were both great events. Bristol 2005 has a lot to live up to. The 'capital' of the South West has good working examples and the conference will be at the heart of the old city docks and its millennium regeneration project AT Bristol. The venue and papers will be inspirational and the waterfront partying will be good!
