Preparation of the forthcoming anthology Le Corbusier and Britain provided a fresh opportunity to reflect on some of Le Corbusier's correspondence with British architects and architectural students. The few letters included here are only to give a feel of the exchange and their contents. In the vast archive of correspondence held by the Fondation Le Corbusier, a surprising number of contacts originate from British architecture schools. Other epistolary exchanges had come from Le Corbusier's English translators and architectural writers (Frederick Etchells, Clive Entwhistle, James Palmes, P Morton Shand), his professional and business contacts, and, not surprisingly, from such close collaborators of later years as Jane Drew and Maxwell Fry. One of the lesser known features is the high number of British letters written in excellent French, a feat not to be likely duplicated today.
