It started off as a twinkle in the boatman's eye, but since London mayor Boris Johnson announced his support for the idea of the floating London River Park first proposed by architect Gensler, it went forwards in leaps and bounds and was submitted for planning at the end of July. Proposed off the north bank of the Thames, the 1.6ha design is split into two sections. The 'west' is 430m long and 6-10m wide, the 'east' is 530m long and 12-27m wide. Seven pavilions are proposed, including a swimming pool and TV studio.
