BE A LEAN GREEN FIGHTING MACHINE

Five years ago sustainable design skills were barely mentioned in the RIB A's first mandatory CPD curriculum. In the new curriculum, however, climate has become a significant part of CPD. Why the change? European government has committed to realising a low carbon society within our generation. The UK's commitment to reduce carbon emissions is now a matter of legal obligation. UK Legislation, driven by the Climate Change Act 2008, will continue to focus on reducing carbon emissions and the construction industry will evolve to address climate change mitigation and adaptation. We will see rapid change within the decade and the profession can either trail it, and risk becoming obsolete as others take advantage of new business areas, or pre-empt it and show leadership and understanding of the opportunities it brings.
