The architect of the celebrated, now-demolished Pimlico school in London died recently aged 82. We're grateful to his former colleague Alena Korbel for finding this rare photo of him (right) in an GLC design meeting. The project on the table is the school. The school was designed and built between 1967 and 1970 but became rapidly neglected and was first mooted for demolition in 1995, whereupon Bancroft began a long campaign to save and refurbish it, backed by big names such as Sunand Prasad and Richard Rogers. The last parts of the school were demolished early this year.
