ART IN THE OPEN

It's nearly summer festival time, and contemporary art is no exception. In particular, the sculpture park, which handled wrongly can turn out like a surreal graveyard, seems to be coming into its own. If you're thinking of visiting the new Hepworth Wakefield, for instance (see Critique, page 40) it would be remiss not to take in the nearby Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which has consistently good temporary exhibitions. Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa is the headline act there this summer, while the park also welcomes its new neighbour with a dual exhibition of Hepworth, outdoors and in.
