Just because such famous names as James Stewart, Damon Albam or Elastica's Justine Frischmann studied architecture, does that mean we all have the potential to become actors or pop stars? Are architects mere generalists, whose transferable skills enable us to get involved in anything - albeit 'amateurishly'? The RIBA's latest Building Futures report, prompts furtherthought on such commonplace suggestions. It is true that architects are often required to be a Jack(or Jill)-of-all-trades. We are certainly stretched to do a wider range of tasks than most professions and need a broad skills set.
