In One Sense, prefabricate is just about as old as the mud bricks of Mesopotamia. In this country, even before the last century, there were sporadic examples of what we, today, call prefabrication, generally with timber as the material, such as that 'panelised' house that we are told English settlers took with them to North America in 1624.
