The 'context' core curriculum topic is about the knowledge and technical skills needed to protect the historic environment and its setting for future generations. This is a particularly hot topic for two reasons: the first is the increase in refurbishment and retrofitting work which inevitably affects the fabric of listed buildings and which you need to up- skill for. The second is the development of the RIBA Conservation Register, which requires specific skills for entry and retention (but allows you to acquire some of those skills by way of CPD.)
