"I think we may have been drunk at the time…' I've just asked James Soane how Project Orange got its name, but partner Christopher Ash remembers. 'As students we had to come up with a name when we entered the competition for the Copenhagen National Library in 1992,'he recalls. 'We spent more time deciding on the name than on the competition.' They still came fourth. Soane's memory is jogged: 'I think a friend quoted a line from a surrealist poem that went "the sky as blue as an orange".' So it was poetic reference then, borne of late eighties Cambridge phenomenological thinking.
