摘要

A technique has been developed for studying the oblique shock‐on‐shock interactions between a rifle‐launched 19.5° cone‐cylinder model and a cylindrical shock wave from a shock tube. A sufficient number of photographs were obtained so that whole sequences of events at selected shock strengths and model Mach numbers could be studied. It was found upon analysis of the photographs that considerable pressure differentials must occur on the model during interaction with the oblique blast. The use of Freon‐114 as the driven gas in the blast‐producing shock tube gave rise to two favorable results: increased clarity of the Schlieren photographs and reduced speed of sound in the receiver.
