Data‐smoothing digital interface between a high‐speed transient recorder and a slow signal averager

A digital interface coupling a high‐speed Biomation 805 transient recorder to a Fabritek 1062 signal averager is described. The combination extends the capability of the Fabritek so that fast transients, in particular NMR free induction decays in solids, can be averaged. The interface allows blocks of successive data words to be averaged before being transferred to the Fabritek. This form of data smoothing and compression facilitates the analysis of noisy signals.
