ASSESSING THE ASSOCIATIONS

For the fourth year in a row, our editorial staff delves into the financial world of two dozen nonprofit groups - trade associations, environmental coalitions, recycling organizations large and small - and finds out how much they're taking in and how much they're paying out. As we made our yearly trek through the financial data reported by 24 recycling industry-related nonprofit groups, it became clear that, as a whole, the economy's slow but erratic climb out of the recession years has led to a mixed financial picture for these associations.
