The Autosort Color system from Tomra specializes in separating glass from other municipal solid waste materials. The machinery works in combination with the equipment provider's Autosort Laser, and together these components can achieve greater than 95 percent purity "at high throughput speeds, even when input materials are wet, dusty or dirty," according to Tomra. Material first travels through a bag opener, where fine fractions of up to 80 millimeters are separated using a double-deck vibrating screen. The material is segregated into three categories based on size.
