Encased Wax Dye

The present invention provides a method to accelerate the process of distributing fluorescent tracer dye into the refrigerant system. Current "state of the art" is a pellet (Figure 1), whereas the invention disclosed herein is the use of a water-soluble membrane to encase the wax tracer dye (Figure 2). The soluble membrane acts as a carrier and protects the wax dye from premature release (during shipping and the assembly process) and would be added to the high pressure, high temperature side of the system so that when the vehicle turns on and the refrigerant/gas gets hot enough to melt the membrane, it will releases the tracer dye into the system. This allows for a quicker leak detection solution.
