RLD Mechanism

When drilling a Subsea Well, a Rigid Lockdown (RLD) Mechanism can be used to generate a preload between the Wellhead Housing and Conductor Housing to transfer the bending moments into the larger diameter Conductor Housing. An advantage of this arrangement may be of reducing the impact which fatigue plays on the life of the well.
