The use of applying an RFID chip (o a label at cryogenic conditions is not practical to do since the RFID chip may malfunction or not function at all under these extremely cold conditions. More specifically, proper and secure labelling and identification of bags or containers carrying blood are crucial fur accurate storage. In addition, if the label for a blood bag or container is lost, it may be difficult, costly and time-consuming, or perhaps even impossible, to then identify that blood bag or container. Most often blood bags or containers while stored in cryogenic conditions are physically removed from cryogenic storage freezers in order to check the identities of the blood bags or containers. By physically removing the blood bags or containers will warm up the blood bag or container which may reduce their storage lifetime. There is also a risk when removing the blood bags or containers in that they may be accidently dropped causing a loss of that blood bag. Accordingly, there remains a need in the art for improved electronically identifying products such as blood bags under cryogenic conditions.
