The glare of motor vehicle drivers is responsible for many accidents: 600 cars crashed in France in 2015 and 9,000 per year in the United States. The sun visor is one of the solutions currently used to prevent the driver from dazzling when he is exposed to the sun, for example. However, it is important to note its installation and its adjustment requires intervention from the driver which involves a moment of deconcentrating which could be fatal. In addition, the driver no longer has visibility of the area obscured by the sun visor. The proposed solution consists in depositing on part of the windshield materials made up of Ag oxidized in a porous matrix of TiO_2. The latter have the properties of changing colors (or darkening) under photonic excitation: this is the principle of photochromism. The idea is to control the light transmission perceived by the driver in the face of any sudden change in contrast, this without obscuring the driver's view of the entire environment around the vehicle.
