The present invention provides a device for an electric or electrified vehicle which is actuated during a crash scenario. The device quickly opens a high voltage circuit in order to disconnect the battery energy from potential short circuits during a crash while simultaneously closing a circuit to discharge the attached electronics through a resistance. The device is designed to actuate when a crash is sensed but prior to crash damage in order to mitigate a hazard prior to crash damage occurring to sensitive devices. A possible implementation for fast actuation is to use pyrotechnic actuators. This device can be used as an enabler for packaging a high voltage electronic module in a crush zone.
