The present invention describes an external shield, comprised of two separate materials, that provides protection to electrical components from weld spatter. The shield is a production aid that provides protection against spatter both adhering to and falling in the electrical components. Without protection, the weld spatter can adhere to the outside of the electrical component. When this occurs, assembly issues can develop later in the build process, resulting in offline rework to remove the spatter. Use of this shield stops the spatter from adhering to the assembly, preventing offline rework and disruptions in the assembly line.
