Localization of Vibrational Excitation: A Simple Model

摘要

A simple model of localization of vibrational excitation in molecules is presented which is based on the idea to treat the dynamics of the molecular equilibrium configuration and the molecular oscillations around it as different degrees of freedom. From the comparison of their timescales, two limiting regimes are identified where localization occurs under formation of quasiparticles: the standard "local mode limit" and a previously undiscussed limit.
