Global phase diagrams have been calculated for binary mixtures containing one self-associating and one isotropic substance. The calculations have been made on the basis of an equation of state. This equation consists of the van der Waals equation as isotropic part and the association term of the Statistical Association Fluid Theory (SAFT) equation. The results are presented in two-dimensional intersections of the global phase diagram. The influence of the self-association on the binary behavior is discussed. Comparisons with similar investigations of the van der Waals, Redlich-Kwong, and Carnahan-Starling-Redlich-Kwong equations of state have been made. Further comparisons with recent calculations of binary water systems have been accomplished.
