Morphological Thermodynamics of Microemulsions

摘要

This note drafts a model where the thermodynamics of microemulsions is manifestly related with global morphological features of surfactant monolayers. The thermostatistics is governed by the competition between the surface tension of the monolayers and a topological energy encoded in the Euler characteristic. The model phase diagrams reproduce typical features of real microemulsions.
