Wind energy potential for Oman

The wind power potential was summarized using data form thirteen weather stations. The overall long term average wind speed for Oman is a moderate 3.67(s.d.=2.13) m/s yielding a potential power of 30.30 W. Wind speeds at four stations, Thumrait, Sur, Masirah and Mar- mul, are appreciably higher than the national average and hence these stations have a great potential for wind power utilization. More data needs to be collected for a better understanding of the wind power potential for Oman.
