Long-term silicon and wafer contracts negotiated in 2007 and 2008 are being cancelled or renegotiated and the new contract price of silicon for delivery in 2009 is down some 50% on that contracted for a year ago.rnThis is the conclusion of the fourth issue of the New Energy Finance (NEF) Silicon and Wafer Price Index, which shows that contract prices are now close to the spot price of $67/kg, equivalent to $0.50 per Watt.
