Bombardier launches 100-seat CRJ1000

Bombardier has officially launched the CRJ1000, previously referred to as the CRJ900X. The new model will have up to 100 seats. "We anticipated the need for larger regional aircraft when we introduced the CRJ700 in 1997 and the CRJ900 in 2000. These aircraft are now the backbones of many airline fleets worldwide," remarked Pierre Beaudoin, president and COO, Bombardier Aerospace. "The CRJ1000 regional jet combines the proven platform, reliability and flexible cabin configurations of its predecessors, with its closest competitor having up to 15% higher trip cash operating costs." These, he added, come from 90% commonality with the CRJ700/900 and the 25,000 lb lower take-off weight than the Embraer 190.
