Metamorphic Rocks: A Classification and Glossary of Terms

Many terms in metamorphic petrology are ambiguous or used inconsistently. In order to address this problem the Subcommission on the Systematics of Metamorphic Rocks (SCMR) has prepared a unified nomenclature scheme and recommended definitions which are widely acceptable and of international use. The SCMR has now completed its initial remit after roughly 20 years of work and has produced a series of specialist recommendations and an associated glossary in this publication. There have been 22 contributing authors from all over the world, including Russia, India, Brazil, Canada and the UK.
