Australian Horror Films 1973-2010 is a thorough yet idiosyncratic reference book, designed by the author as a literary study of selected pictures within the Australian horror movie genre. As is often the case with many reference works, setting the parameters of what to keep in and what to leave out can at times be contentious. Defining films as "Australian" for the purpose of inclusion here at times is based only as filmed on location in Australia, such as Komodo where the setting is North Carolina, yet actually filmed in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Films such as the first Saw movie which has Australian producers, for example, but were not shot in Australia are excluded. Depending on how one defines "Australianness" this particular schematic seems somewhat puzzling.
