Hydraulics galore at WSR gala

The West Somerset Railway is hoping to have pairs of Hymeks, Warships and Westerns at its three-day June 12-14 mixed traffic gala. Negotiations are continuing to secure D7076 from Bury and D821 Greyhound and D1062 Western Courier from the Severn Valley Railway to lineup alongside residents D7017, D1010 Western Campaigner and long-term visitor D832 Onslaught.rnThe six hydraulics will work trains alongside Class 25 D7523, Class 33 D6566 and Class 47 D1661 North Star. The Friday will be mostly diesel, with just one steam diagram, while more steam will be in action on the Saturday and Sunday. An intensive timetable using four sets of stock and running late trains on the Saturday will ensure all locos see plenty of action. Double heading will also be commonplace.
