CFPS Cornish tour a success

The Class 40 Preservation Society's ambitious two-day trip to Cornwall using 40145 East Lancashire Railway and D1015 Western Champion on May 15/16 was a resounding success, making a substantial profit for the group through ticket revenue, raffles and book sales.rnThe train ran from Crewe to Birmingham International with the 40 where the Class 52 was attached to work in tandem to Plymouth. Here the Western was repositioned to the rear and the 40 worked into Penzance for an evening break. There was a trip to Falmouth, marking the first ever visit by a 40 to the Cornish town and the first by a Class 52 since 1976.
