Electric trains start for Manchester-Liverpool

Electric trains finally arrived on Northern's Liverpool to Manchester route on March 5 when two of the recently-transferred Class 319s entered service. The honourof working the first service on the route, the 0615 Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport went to 319363, while sister 319362 followed an hour later. The two units, along with the others which have received Northern colours, have also received new 'Northern Electric' logos and wording. The commencement of services came shortly after 319361/362 worked test trains across the newly-electrified line through Chat Moss on February 23.
