Siemens bags ÖBB loco Framework

AUSTRIA'S ÖBB has awarded Siemens the framework contract to deliver up to 200 new electric locos. Under the agreement, Siemens will deliver a maximum of 100 regular Vectron ACs, 50 Vectron ACs with a diesel power module and 50 Vectron MS locos. A batch of 30 Vectron MSs was firmed up immediately upon the signing of the contract. The 160km/h locos will be operated by the Rail Cargo Group in cross-border transport between Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. The first machines are expected to leave the Siemens works in Munich in the summer of 2018.
