In 2014 the Network SouthEast Railway Society, in partnership with the National Railway Museum commenced Project Commuter, the major restoration to museum standard of former Southern Region 2-HAP EMU 4308. After the stripping of the interiors of all seats and fittings, the coaches were . moved to Locomotion, Shildon, where for the past year work has focussed on the restoration of the bodies. Meanwhile, at York, a small team of volunteers has been busy restoring the interior fittings.
