Monitoring bridge components using acoustic emissions

摘要

Alaboratory investigation by Transportation Technology Center, Inc., into the effectiveness of acoustic-emission monitoring as a non-destructive evaluation technique to detect and monitor fatigue cracks in steel bridges indicates some AE instrumentation can readily detect initiation and growth of these eracks in a very-noisy test environment.
