Performance results of wood tie and fastening systems tested at FAST

In-track performance tests of ties and fastening systems installed on a six-degree, five-inch superelevation curve at the Facility for Accelerated Service Testing near Pueblo, Colo., have been conducted under more than one million gross tons (mgt) of 39-ton-axle-load traffic using cars loaded to 315,000 pounds. These tests were sponsored by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Association of American Railroads.
