Nur mit einer Erhhung des Bahnanteils am Modal Split des Gterverkehrs sind die Ziele des Pariser Abkommens zum C0_2-Aussto erreichbar. Der Bahntransport leidet aber sehr unter rckstndiger Technik vor allem des Gterwagens. Der in diesem Beitrag vorgeschlageneGterwagen 4.0" ist voll kompatibel zum bestehenden System, bietet aber die Mglichkeiten einer weitgehenden Auto­matisierung und Beschleunigung aller Nebenprozesse von der Laderampe bis in den Hauptlauf.%Decarbonisation of freight transport cannot be achieved without rail as a carrier. At present, views of how to optimise the transport of freight by rail are dominated by numerous approaches all focused on the infrastructure, with freight wagons being left as they are. The rolling stock subsystem, however, has much potential to offer for optimisation and, assuming a holistic approach is applied, it can indeed lead to solutions that make economic sense for the companies involved. It would be one way of dispelling the aversion that holders of freight wagons have to investing in them and would open the way to embarking on innovative solutions. One of these solutions goes under the name of "Freight wagon 4.0"and envisages making freight wagons into an element in the internet of things. It would be capable of achieving more than just monitoring and telematics and would go as far as automation of functions associated with freight wagons. The functions that it would make sense to automate include the brakes, since these currently require the largest number of manual interventions when trains are being marshalled.
