'Freight wagon 4.0'- the freight wagon for the internet of things Part 2: selected technical aspects and processes

The first contribution in the series on "the fourth revolution in freight wagons" dealt with the general economic conditions and the meaningful upgrading of freight wagons from the point of view of business economics. This article begins with a technology roadmap and goes on to present solutions for actuators, user Interfaces and traction. It also discusses additions to be made to the "freight wagon 4.0" in the form of an automatic central buffer coupler and the fundamental feasibility of automating the technical manipulation of wagons. The article finally takes a look at the benefits of automating processes from the point of view of the infrastructure managers.
