Season ticket holders travelling on West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway trains will be exempt from the 2.8% fares rise after the operator announced a discount owing to a decline in performance. West Midlands Trains (WMT), which operates WMR and LNWR, pledged to compensate passengers and confirmed a 3% reduction in the cost of the weekly, monthly and annual season tickets from January 2. This is in addition to the £2.5 million that WMT has paid in Delay Repay claims since last May.
