TfL and train drivers unions are working on a pay deal that could stave off pay-related strikes for four years. Some transport commentators in the mainstream press have calculated that the deal on the table would see drivers earn up to £52,000 a year. A TfL statement, made after a meeting at Acas when London Underground offered the unions a four-year pay deal, said: 'This deal, which would be the longest ever achieved, offers stability and the prospect of no industrial action over pay until at least 2015.
