European railways take a stand on the road fuel crisis

The Community of European Railways (CER) - the body which brings together 35 rail infrastructure managing bodies and railway undertakings from the EU member states and from 10 other European countries - is observing with great concern the protest by the road transport industry on the cost of energy following the rising prices of oil. European Governments are being demanded to compensate rising oil prices by reductions in fuel taxes.
