New UIC mandates

At the General Assembly of its members in Paris on 22 November, the International Union of Railways (UIC), the worldwide organisation for railway cooperation, appointed Mr. Etienne Schouppe, Chief Executive Officer of the Belgian national railways (NMBS/SNCB), as Chairman of the Union for 2002-2003. Mr. Schouppe takes over from Mr. Miguel Corsini Freese, Chairman of the Spanish national railways (RENFE), who has served as Chairman of the UIC over the years 2000 - 2001.
