DfT announced on June 26 that Hitachi Europe had been 'succeeded' as one of the two shortlisted bidders for the Intercity Express Programme by Agility Trains Ltd, a new consortium led by Hitachi (Japan) Ltd. The latter had prequalified for IEP within the Alstom-Barclays Rail Group which subsequently withdrew. Within the other consortium still bidding for IEP, the Express Rail Alliance including Bombardier and Siemens, Bab-cock ft Brown has now acquired the fourth member Angel Trains (RB1320 p5).
