RMT ballots at Network Rail

Rmt announced on April 17 that it was to ballot 5000 signallers and other operational staff at Network Rail for industrial action, after rejecting an additional 0·1% on the first year of a two-year pay deal. Union members had already rejected NR's original offer of 4-8％ for this year and RPl + 0.5％ in Year 2, on the grounds that the latter would not 'protect' members against the rising cost of living. 'The cynical offer of an extTa tenth of 1% in Year 1 on condition that we do not ballot our members simply fails to address our members' concerns over the second year of the offer', said RMT General Secretary Bob Crow.
