Released under the Freedom of Information Act at the end of October were the minutes of a meeting held on July 29 between Arriva plc Chairman Sir Richard Broadbent and Transport Secretary Lord Adonis. Although heavily redacted, the key paragraph concerned the Arriva Trains Wales and Crosscountry franchises.Broadbent thought that DfT should be 'more flexible in its management of the contracts as opposed to rigidly enforcing their terms'. His further remarks were redacted and the narrative resumes with Adonis 'noting' Broadbent's comments and 'saying that he was pleased that Arriva intended to honour their contractual obligations'. After a further redacted passage, the discussion turns to timetabling.
