AOC risk still high

RAlB's report on the fatal collision between a car and a Northern Rail service at Wraysholme automatic open crossing between Kent's Bank and Cart ft Cartmel stations in Cumbria on November 3 2008 highlights yet again the fact that the number of collisions at AOCs is far higher than at half-barrier crossings for the same traffic loading.rnThe number of AOCs is in fact reducing. There are now 120 on Network Rail, and Wraysholme is one of the very few remaining across a double-track route.
